Luxuriously romantic, Borthwick Castle is nestled within the beautiful landscape of the Scottish hills providing a truly spectacular setting for your perfect wedding celebration. 600 years of dramatic Scottish history await you and your guests, providing a magical backdrop to your Scottish Wedding. Borthwick Castle will be exclusively yours; from the majestic reception rooms to the twelve elegant bedchambers scattered throughout the Castle and accessed via the fairy-tale spiralling staircases, our delightful Crookston Cottage can accommodate an additional four guests and finally our luxurious and private Gatehouse – the perfect retreat for the newlyweds to unwind at the end of an unforgettable day. Each one of the 12 uniquely designed bedchambers comes paired with an en-suite bathroom, and are designed to offer guests a relaxing and indulgent experience.
The surrounding grounds within the Castle walls set the ideal scene for summer drinks, activities , pre wedding barbecues, a late night dram as well as providing stunning views and numerous photo opportunities. The magnificent Great Hall, Garrison and Stateroom are all licensed for religious, humanist and civil ceremonies and partnerships.. The Castle can accommodate up to 80 guests for your Wedding for the whole day.
Our friendly team will ensure all your guests are warmly greeted as they arrive at the Castle. They can enjoy the stunning surroundings, sip a glass of champagne and meet new friends and old before the ceremony begins. All our brides are given a room where they can make final preparations before their entrance into the ceremony room. Once the formalities are complete everyone can relax and enjoy the very best of Scottish hospitality; dining, dancing and creating wonderful memories.
After a truly magnificent wedding, you and your guests who are spending the night at the Castle can relax and unwind with a wee dram in front of the fire before heading off to your sumptuous bedrooms which have been prepared by our housekeeping team. The following morning you can have a leisurely start by enjoying a delicious full Scottish Breakfast in the Great Hall and reliving the highlights of your fantastic wedding day.
We understand that every wedding is unique and we will work with you to ensure your day is designed to suit your exact requirements, personalising your day , realising your hopes and dreams. Our friendly and knowledgeable team will be on hand every step of the way to assist in booking any additional requirements you may have and ensuring your wedding is truly unforgettable. We will be able to assist and advise you on booking any additional requirements for your Wedding from a lone piper to a full Ceilidh Band; activities, to floral decorations and bouquets. We can also provide details of any additional local accommodation required for extra guests along with transfers to and from the Castle. We will ensure that you really can relax and enjoy youryour day.

“What can we say about a wedding at Borthwick? It was perfect.
We had almost no ideas when we set out to plan the wedding. Or a million ideas and nothing concrete. The moment we stepped inside Borthwick the first venue on a list of many we were going to visit we knew we’d get married there. We wanted a medieval castle that somehow both felt like a castle and like a luxury hotel; modern in the ways that mattered, but castley in every other possible way. Borthwick met that goal and then went way beyond it. The dining hall is spectacular. The ceremony space is gorgeous. Spending time on the lawn outside makes you feel like you’re in some kind of fantasy show. And what could we say to do justice to the service? Our coordinator at the castle Amy was simply flawless. Not only did she handle almost a year’s worth of our constant questioning and requests with absolute aplomb, but when there were issues on the day of the wedding, she would come to us with a solution already worked out. Amy is one of the most professional and capable people I have worked with in any capacity and we could not
recommend her enough. The chef’s team was absolutely phenomenal . They delivered, and then some. Ten out of ten. Eleven out of ten, even! Absolutely fantastic job by everyone at Borthwick and we could not recommend them more strongly
“Words are not enough to describe the grandeur of Borthwick Castle. It was a phantasmagoric wedding, and all friends and family had the time of their lives. It's truly a unique fairy tale venue. The staff is more than helpful, fun and highly efficient. They managed to do our wedding in 28 days, thanks to the unbelievable organisation and collaboration with suppliers. Just to echo everything Duncan and my mum have said, thank you so much for an incredible wedding weekend. The service from all the staff was great, the food was outstanding (and lots of our guests commented that it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had!), Aine’s organisation of the day was amazing and really took all the stress away from us and Kieran and Michelle were absolutely fantastic throughout! We couldn’t have hoped for a better celebration.
